Edging the Alps in Upper Bavaria is Munich (or as the locals say München), a city unlike anywhere else in the world. Steeped in history, and covered in museums and castles, Munich is much more than tight leather pants and giant beers.
After Berlin, Munich is the biggest hotspot for tourists in Germany. When you hear the local Middle Bavarian dialect, there’s no escaping the fact you are in Munich! Not to be missed are the English Garden, Nymphenburg Palace, and the Munich Residence. If you venture up the 306 steps to the top of St. Peter's Church, you’ll gain a splendid view of the city. For soccer fans, time should definitely be set aside to visit the Allianz Arena on your road trip to Munich. BMW-Welt, is not just the place where new vehicles are delivered, but you can also immerse yourself in the history of the Munich automotive brand. This great day out is definitely not just for car enthusiasts! After a busy day exploring Munich’s charms, the coziness of a campervan rental in Munich and a Mass of beer await you in a traditional brewery.
It seems like all roads, or should we say motorways, lead to Munich: You can drive to Munich on the A8, A995, A92, A94, A95, A96, and A99. You can also easily travel to Munich Central Station by train, almost every hour, from most major German cities. Alternatively, you can also take to the skies. At Franz-Josef-Strauss Airport, airlines such as Condor, EasyJet, Lufthansa, and Austrian Airlines connect the city with a number of domestic German and European destinations as well as Asia, Africa, and America, offering several daily flights.
The coach car park north of the Allianz Arena offers parking. It costs €15 per night, with the car park only being closed to mobile homes on match days. You can also park on the exhibition grounds in Munich-Riem that are opened during the Oktoberfest. There is space for 1,500 motorhomes, and a motorhome pitch for two people costs €35 per night. In addition, there is plenty of free on-street parking in Munich - but it’s tricky to get your hands on a space that’s long enough and available. A little further away from the city center, you can even park your motorhome hire in Munich with a breathtaking view of the Alps at the Dulipphof in the Munich district, and each night costs €11. From €11 a day, you can also park at the Munich-Obermenzing campgrounds, regardless of the season.
Vi elsket turen vår i Indie-camperen vår! Fantastisk service fra fyren i Venice-gården! Han jobbet så hardt og ga oss god service med fantastisk kommunikasjon! Han er en ressurs for selskapet! Vi vil definitivt bruke Indi igjen og anbefale til venner. Enkel og grundig kommunikasjon hele veien! Helt fantastisk selskap å ha med å gjøre. Vi reserverte fra New Zealand og hadde strålende kommunikasjon og service hele veien. Bobilen vår var ren og kom med flotte instruksjonsvideoer. Vi vil definitivt bruke Indie Campers igjen og vil anbefale dem til alle!
